As stylists, we are constantly reading about the latest fashion, beauty and lifestyle trends, and thinking of how to apply them in everyday life.

We know it’s easy to look good when expensive resources like hair and makeup products, professional photographers and image editing are available. However, this is out of reach for the majority of the population. As a result, it can raise a lot of unrealistic expectations for both women and men.

So we were excited to read this post by Who What Wear, showing some fabulous Photoshop-free campaigns featuring models of all ages, shapes and sizes.

We know a lot of what we see in the media is about selling a fantasy. But we also know this can have a negative impact on people’s confidence, especially those unfamiliar with the industry who think that this is what they need to look and feel attractive.

Perhaps this is why we also take a keen interest in photos of celebrities without makeup, because it actually gives us a sense of relief that they are people just like us. A recent article by Stylist featured a series of beautifully shot images of makeup-free women.

Our advice to clients we have seen over the years is to know how to accentuate your best features. It’s not enough to make an effort only for work or special occasions – your personal style should be reflected in all aspects of your day-to-day life. Knowing how to style your hair, add a little makeup and choose clothes that are perfect for you can be a big boost to your confidence. Even science can support this, according to this article in the Daily Mail.

We continued our search for more famous campaigns that were shot without retouching, and guess what? Not many available. On this page are a few portraits of London people by local street-style photographer Joshua Roberto Scacheri that captured real beauty.
