Mrs Roberts

Mrs Roberts

On Sunday 9th of October the Bernie Arts centre café will play host to a fantastic community tea party held in honour of Alexteen Roberts, the 101-year-old victim of a mugging on her own doorstep in Tottenham earlier this month.

We need your help to restore Alexteen’s faith back in Tottenham and its local residents.

You can do this by registering for a free ticket for the Tottenham Tea Party (so we know the number of people coming), and by bringing along your home-baked cakes and biscuits to share. Please bring your bake with a label attached saying what it is, who made it and feel free to add a note to Alexteen if you would like.

We expect Alexteen and her family to arrive at around 4pm so we need you to be with us between 3.30pm-3.50pm so we can set up the tea service.

We also need volunteers to help serve tea.

Alexteen’s story made front-page news after she was mugged and knocked to the ground as she returned home from a prayer meeting in Tottenham. The mugger got away with around £300. A crowdfunding campaign has since been set up and had surpassed its target by more than three times to raise £999 at time of writing.

The plan is to present Alexteen with a cheque for the money raised at the Tottenham Tea Party but we also need someone to sponsor the printing the presentation cheque.

Please use the contact information below if you can help with this.

The Tottenham Tea Party in honour of Alexteen Roberts takes place at 4pm on October 9th at Bernie Grant Arts Centre Café. Register for a free ticket here. Help spread the word on social media using the hashtag #TottenhamTeaParty, or visit the crowdfunding page. And to volunteer, email Tottenham Ploughman
