A monthly Artisan Market will launch in the courtyard of the Bernie Grant Arts Centre this Saturday.

Pitched as a venture to showcase “passion and creativity” from within the local area, the monthly market will kick off this weekend with a selection of handmade items from local jewellers and artists, as well as homemade sauce for some culinary inspiration and punch to drink while you browse.

Market founder and local Tottenham resident Franklin Boateng explained he had always felt the space at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre was the perfect setting for community-minded, creative events.

“I want the market to become a go-to destination for Tottenham and its visitors,” said Franklin.

Franklin’s idea for the market was born out of his frustration around the lack of selling opportunities  for his girlfriend, Natalie Galloway, to sell the artisan candles she makes.

He will keep rents for the stalls low to ensure the market will be accessible for independent local creatives and also intends to give opportunities to existing businesses who are at risk of losing their current trading locations because of the regeneration across Tottenham.
