News about COVID-19 is evolving on a day-to-day basis. The impact it is having on the world around us is huge, so as part of a series of articles on the SeventhSister, we’d like to share a round up on what we can do to help our local community.

In the first part of this series we will be focusing on local businesses, highlighting the ways we can support them during this difficult time.

1. Crop Drop

A wonderful local business who deliver seasonal, organic vegetables sourced from farms as close to Haringey as possible. Whilst this last week has brought much uncertainty and disruption to daily life, their work will continue as usual. They’re not anticipating any supply shortages as of yet but the situation is changing on an hourly basis so they’re working their hardest to make sure they can adapt and keep you updated. You can keep up to speed with their updates on their website.

2. Moreton Dairy / Milk man delivery

Sam at Moreton is continuing to deliver milk, eggs, juice and more. To place an order, you can call him on 07904 795 559. You can also text him on that number, and email is also convenient: sam@moretondairy.com

3. Pressure Drop

Local brewery Pressure Drop have put together a ‘Pay it Forward’ initiative. For every online delivery order of 15 cans or more they will pay £25 in credit to the independent pub, restaurant or retail outlet of your choice. Just name the business in your order notes and they will let them know they have a credit on their account. In their own words, “We’re painfully aware of how many of our customers will be affected by social distancing measures, and we want to do what we can to help those businesses bounce back when the measures are lifted. So if you might normally buy our beer in your local pub or shop and can’t get out to them, or they have temporarily closed, please pop their business in your order notes so we can give them a hand.” Place an order on their website

4. True Craft

Whilst True Craft is now closed following government advice, they were continuing to run a delivery operation for both pizza and beer. It’s with great sadness however, that they were broken into on the 23rd March. True Craft are a fantastic local business and it really upset us to discover this. They don’t know when they’ll be back up on their feet because of this, but please keep tuned on their social media for updates. Follow them on their Instagram for updates

5. Downhills Park Café

This open space plays a big part in the lives of the community in Tottenham. They are surviving by offering their food via Deliveroo. They are also setting up a way to ensure our workers in the NHS keep fed and watered. The team will be delivering food to doctors and nurses in the local area. You can keep up to date with them on their Instagram where the owner, Neri regularly posts video stories.

6. WithMilk

Their team are doing bike deliveries to those isolating and distancing. If you are local, they will walk or bike over anything you can usually get in the shops, plus some extras such as milk, eggs and bread. They are also delivering anything on their regular menu. One of our favourite grocery stores, packed full of fruit and veg and fresh Turkish bread is still open but ONLY FOR ESSENTIAL GOODS. People should not be leaving their house unless they absolutely need to, and businesses like Expa are doing a great job serving the community with everything they need. We need to ensure they don’t get long queues, so please don’t stock pile and only buy what you need if urgent. You can find them on Philip Lane.
